Saudi CBAHI Infection Prevention and Control Survey Preparation Workshop

This focused three-days’ educational program is designed to prepare healthcare professionals for successful participation in CBAHI accreditation surveys, with a primary emphasis on the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) chapter.

This workshop extensively covers the strategic interconnection of IPC with Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) standards, Facility Management and Safety (FMS), and other IPC Supervising departments.

This workshop follows the practical guidance specific to infection control standards and their seamless integration into daily clinical practice.

This workshop focuses on translating complex IPC standards into measurable bedside practices. Participants will learn to ensure strict compliance with Essential Safety Requirements (ESRs) (e.g., isolation room parameters and committee governance), strengthen surveillance documentation, enhance interdisciplinary coordination, and prepare clinical teams for the rigorous tracer methodology and surveyor interviews.

The participants will engage in interactive discussions, risk assessment scenarios, documentation review exercises, and mock IPC tracer simulations to ensure total readiness for real survey situations.

The workshop will be online through ZOOM meeting and the LINK WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE WHATSAPP GROUP.

The workshop has a mixed medium of instruction in both English and Arabic languages.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Interpret and explain the intent, structure, and clinical rationale of CBAHI Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards.
• Apply documentation best practices for infection surveillance, multi-drug resistant organism (MDRO) tracking, and outbreak management to demonstrate compliance during survey review.
• Recognize IPC-related Essential Safety Requirements (ESRs)—specifically regarding IPC committee governance and airborne isolation room functionalities—and analyze their critical implications for accreditation scoring.
• Prepare clinical units and specialized departments (such as CSSD, OR, and Hemodialysis) for the CBAHI tracer methodology and staff surveyor interviews.
• Conduct internal mock audits using standardized checklists to evaluate hand hygiene compliance.
• Develop proactive corrective action plans (CAP) to address identified clinical risks and compliance deficiencies prior to the official survey.
• Describe the intersection of IPC with Facility Management and Safety (FMS), including water safety plans, air quality monitoring in positive/negative pressure rooms, and medical waste management.

COURSE DELIVERABLES:

1. Structured summary of key IPC standards, substandards, and measurable elements (MEs).
2. IPC Documentation Readiness Checklist (covering policy manuals, validation reports, surveillance data, and committee minutes).
3. Sample interview preparation questions and rapid-fire flashcards for frontline nursing and ancillary staff.
4. Completion certificate for all with 6 CPD Units [equivalent to total of 6 hours].
